This website, tedsmoot.com, is operated by Ted Smoot. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when you visit this site.

Information We Collect

Information you provide: If you contact us by email at ted@tedsmoot.com, we receive whatever you include in your message. If you send a question through the ask box, we receive the text of the question and the date it was sent. The form does not ask for your name or email address, and we do not attach your IP address or any other identifier to the question.

Automatically collected information: This site does not run analytics or advertising trackers. Questions you type into the ask box are searched in your browser and are not sent anywhere unless you choose to send one to Ted. Like any website, its hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

This site does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising pixels, or other tracking technologies. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, may process request information as described in Section 2 to deliver pages and protect against abuse.

How We Use Your Information

Information collected through this site is used to:

• Respond to inquiries sent by email
• Review questions sent through the ask box, and publish selected questions with answers on Asked and answered, edited to remove anything that could identify you or anyone else
• Screen submitted questions for spam and personal details (see Section 5)
• Deliver the site and keep it secure

When a question arrives, Ted receives a notification that contains no part of the question.

Third-Party Services

This site is hosted by Cloudflare, which provides hosting and content delivery and stores submitted questions until they are reviewed. Before Ted reads them, submitted questions may be checked for spam and personal details by an automated model, JEV by Typesafe, accessed through OpenRouter; only the question text is sent for that check. Each provider has its own privacy policy. Links to other services, such as social media profiles, lead to sites with their own privacy policies; we encourage you to review those directly.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Request information is processed by Cloudflare as part of normal site operations. The text of submitted questions is shared with OpenRouter and Typesafe only for the screening described in Section 5. Questions we answer are published on this site. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data Retention

Email correspondence is retained as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry. Submitted questions are deleted from storage once they are answered or set aside, and in any case within 90 days of being sent. Questions published with an answer stay on the site as part of the record. This site collects no analytics data.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact ted@tedsmoot.com. Because questions are sent without a name or email address, we cannot link a question to you. To have a question you sent removed, before or after it is published, email ted@tedsmoot.com with its text and we will delete it.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
